Admissions
If you are interested in applying for a school place for your child, we would warmly invite you to explore the opportunities and experiences we offer via our website, or in person by visiting the school. Please read below for information about the admissions processes which vary depending on the age of your child.
The Admissions Policy of the school has been agreed by the Governing Body and is in line with the Local Authority Admissions Policy.
Applying for a Pre-School Place
Your child is eligible for a Pre-School place from the September after they turn 3. Research shows that children who attend a Nursery school tend to have the best outcomes by the age of 8, so we would encourage you to consider Eyres Monsell Pre-School for your child.
We offer fully flexible session options, allowing you to choose anywhere between 15 hours (Universal Funding) or 30 hours (Extended Funding), depending on eligibility. You can check whether you are eligible for Extended Funding by clicking the link below:

The Pre-School provision at Eyres Monsell Primary School is excellent. Our experienced and dedicated staff work to foster awe and wonder in every child, providing a unique and stimulating environment. To learn more about our classroom environment, please visit the 'Pre-School' page under the 'Pupils' tab on our website.
To take this important first step, please contact the office in person to register your interest (or call 0116 277 3855). Alternatively, you can fill out the e-form below or click this link: Eyres Monsell Pre-School - Expression Of Interest Form
We will add your child to the list of new children for that academic year. Around Easter (March/April), we will reach out to confirm whether you still require a school place for your child and guide you through the next steps.
Please note that our Pre-School is often oversubscribed, so we encourage you to apply early to ensure the best chance of securing a place for your child. We also consider mid-year admissions, subject to availability of spaces.

If your child is starting full-time school for the first time into Reception and is moving on from a playgroup or nursery setting, you will need to make an application to the Local Authority by 15th January 2026. You can do this using the link below:

Moving to Secondary School
Finishing primary school is a huge milestone in a child's life, and it is important that care is taken over deciding which secondary school your child attends. Many local secondary schools hold open events during the Autumn Term to support parents and carers in making this decision, and we would strongly encourage you to take your child to see as many of these as possible. Once a decision has been made, an online application must be submitted to the Local Authority by the deadline of 31st October 2024. You can use the link below to make your secondary school application online.
